Practice for the high school entrance test, one calm step at a time.

Entrance Lane helps parents of 7th and 8th graders get ready for the HSPT, ISEE, SSAT and SHSAT. Each test has its own page that explains the sections, timing and scoring from the test owner’s own site, with the date we checked. We’re building full-length practice tests with every answer explained, and the waitlist is open now.

Entrance Lane isn’t affiliated with any test owner or school.

Which test is your child taking?

Many Catholic high schools use the HSPT, independent schools accept the ISEE or the SSAT, and New York City’s specialized high schools use the SHSAT. Your child’s school says which one it takes.

Common questions

Which test does my child need to take?

The school decides. Many Catholic high schools use the HSPT, many independent schools accept either the ISEE or the SSAT, and New York City’s specialized high schools use the SHSAT. Each school’s admissions page says which one it takes.

Are these the official tests?

No. Entrance Lane writes its own practice tests to match each test’s published format. Entrance Lane isn’t affiliated with any test owner, and the test owners publish their own practice materials too.

Is the monthly plan a subscription?

Yes. Monthly practice will renew each month during testing season until you stop it, and you can cancel any time. A single full-length test is paid for once and doesn’t renew.

When will practice tests open?

We’re writing them test by test. Join the waitlist for your child’s test and we’ll email you once, on the day it opens.
